TweetMint 101: Scent-Sationally Clean Living Room

The living room often exemplifies the heart of the home as being a place to gather, entertain guests, and where memories will be made that will last a lifetime. As a core focal point of any home, it is typically the one room that is gifted the most attention when Spring Cleaning and may be the first room on your list to tackle. We have already explored cleaning guides for other rooms, like the kitchen here, and the bathroom here, and it is time to provide a TweetMint guide for the living room.

Without further ado, let’s provide the TweetMint Tips & hacks for getting your living room “scent”-sationally clean (with a dash of refreshing peppermint)!

Carpets & Floors

TweetMint is a great carpet shampoo and there are a variety of methods to get your carpets fully-clean, and smelling nice & fresh.

Take 1 oz. (30 ml) of TweetMint per gallon of water and put it in a wet vac or carpet steamer. Let some time go by for the enzymes to do their work, they take a little longer than harsh chemicals, but they should not discolor or damage your carpets (although you should always spot test first for color fastness). If you would like a stronger, deeper clean you can use 2 oz of TweetMint or instead add 1/2 to 1 cup of borax to the gallon of TweetMint solution.

For the most stubborn of stains, use 2 – 3 oz (60 – 90 ml) per gallon and soak the stains directly and allow to stand before washing.

For hardwood floors, you may mop or spray & brush floors using 1 – 2 oz. (30 – 60 ml) per gallon of water.

Upholstery, Leather & Fabrics

For upholstery & fabrics, try using a light dilution of 2 tsp (7.5 ml) TweetMint per 32 oz. of water. Spray or scrub furniture, drapery, or fabric with a sponge or your preferred scrubbing tool. Allow time for the enzymes to do their work, then wipe or blot dry with a moist towel. Please make sure to spot check first for color fastness.

Pet Stains & Odors

TweetMint is safe to use around pets!

We love our pets and it’s important to use cleaners that can effectively clean the accidental messes they may make, while also being safe to use around them.

TweetMint is perfect as it is safe, when used as directed, around pets and can fully clean away both stains & odors. Try using 0.5 oz. (15 ml) TweetMint per 32 oz. of warm or hot water, for the most stubborn of stains, you may want to use a stronger dilution and allow it to soak overnight.

For those who do not handle strong odors well (like me) a nice trick is to quickly spray vomit or droppings and the bad smell can often be taken away in about 30 seconds. This can make cleanup a lot easier!

TweetMint is strong enough to fully digest and eliminate cat urine – yes, you read that correctly. You can wash any blankets, bedding, or clothing in a high-efficiency using 2 oz. (60 ml) of TweetMint and if you use warm or hot water you can activate the enzymes’ cleaning power even more. For furniture or other items that can’t be washed in the machine, make sure to give them a good soak and use some elbow grease, as the agitation also helps to activate the enzymes.

Glass & Windows

TweetMint is an amazing all-purpose and all-surface cleaner, due to being versatile & non-corrosive. Glass and windows call for the light dilution in regards to a quick clean & shine.

Use the light dilution when cleaning these surfaces, 1 – 2 tsp (5 – 10 ml) per 32 oz. of water.

TweetMint Tip: You may find the above dilution is a little too strong for you, feel free to try out even lighter dilutions, as a little TweetMint goes a long way!

Tables

For coffee tables that use glass, simply use the above glass light dilution.

For wooden tables or other types of materials, you should start by using a light dilution but may need to use a stronger dose of 1 tsp – 0.5 oz. (5 – 15 ml) per 32 oz. of water. After spraying, make sure to wipe clean and use some elbow grease for more stubborn stains.

Toys

Because TweetMint is non-corrosive and does not damage surfaces, it can be a great cleaner for hard toys or stuffed animals. You can make up a tub of diluted TweetMint at 0.5 – 1 oz (15 – 30 ml) per gallon of water and scrub the toys.

For the stuffed animals, if they are machine-washable, try using 2 oz. (60 ml) of TweetMint in a high-efficiency washer.

Indoor Plants

TweetMint works well on plants!
